Default Lights Not Dimmed For Take Off And Landing

Is it still common practice for the cabin lights to be dimmed for take off and landing? On my Qantas flight from Melbourne to Sydney last night, the lights were not dimmed. It was my first flight in over a year, and the first time landing with the lights on, so I wasn't sure if it has become common practice.

My last night flight was back in November on VA, but they definitely dimmed them for takeoff and landing.
