Yes, tail strike on take off from Melbourne. I was sat at the back, quite a jolt!

But why Canberra then? Especially for a 767? Why not go back to Melbourne or continue to Sydney?

OP was in March 2013 so ZXD was around then!

They began the food service before they announced they were making an emergency landing, so either they didn't realise they had hit the runway straight away or they were deliberating about it. Either way is worrying.
Is there an on board system that reports tail strike or would the tower have spotted it? |
