Aerial imaging on google maps
I've had a troll and can't find any obvious reference to this one, I've just given in to the urge to click the 'New!' link at the top right of Google maps and have come across some aerial imaging they've put online. It only covers parts of California but it's pretty cool, the directional button on the top left of the image changes the perspective if alternatives are available and the definition is pretty impressive. The links they provide zoom right in on one feature but if you zoom out there's a fairly large area that has been covered, including airports/air bases and naval stations.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem you can direct link to aerial images but once you enable Aerial imaging, here are some links to get you going, they'll appear first as normal maps or just grey space, but click the Aerial button when it appears and away you go. Sometimes you might need to re-enable aerial imaging mode via that New! link, if you've got a google account, sign in and it should save your settings.
