I poped past the Qantas founders museum tent at the Avalon airshow and I had a conversation with the museum curator. I asked if there is any chance of a 767 making its way over to Longreach.
He said QANTAS offered a 767 as gift to be on display, but they declined after many meetings and discussions as they won't be able to afford the upkeep of the aircraft. He also mention the lack of space to put the aircraft. (As we already know)
But some time in the future a 767 might make its way over there.

Why not donate a 767-300 to HARS at Wollongong. It is in a location where more people could also appreciate the aircraft having been preserved. I imagine they have many reasons why they aren't but still how wonderful it would have been...

There was, once upon a time, talk about the aircraft storage facility in ASP becoming a tourism thing once there were a few aircraft in there. Perhaps, if that were to happen, a 767 would be donated? After all, wouldn't be too far to move it!

VH-EAJ 762 would have been ideal - first QF 767, and named City of Wollongong (ignoring the fact that YWOL is in Shellharbour )

767s still have a lot of life in them and value........in 10 years time, maybe it could be possible.

Default OGN

I'm glad the original Rego has been kept. Very cool of west jet.
