maximum range of an A320 ?
It might seem like a dumb question, but what is the effectively maximum range of an A320 with maximum passengers.
Presume things like which engines, fuel tank sizes, number of passengers, winds, proximity of alternates comes into play but how do you work it out ? |

3,200 nmi (5,900 km; 3,700 mi) at MTOW (Max Take Off Weight)

From memory BA have a trans-atlantic A318 flight which would surely be the longest out there.
There are alot of long A320 routes in the US |

Yes British Airways run a LCY-SNN-JFK-LCY all business class service. Air Canada also used to use an A319 on a YYZ-LHR transatlantic flight too, from memory.

yes, the A319 and A318 both have longer range then the A320
A319: 3,100 nmi (5,700 km; 3,600 mi) A319: 3,600 nmi (6,700 km; 4,100 mi) A319 LR: 5,600 nmi (10,400 km; 6,400 mi) A319CJ: 6,500 nmi (12,000 km; 7,500 mi) A321: 3,000 nmi (5,600 km; 3,500 mi) Also, the BA Flights are only capable of carrying 32 pax, nowhere near MTOW John |

I also have a question about the A320,
when I was on my flight from Mel to Syd, when the aircraft turned it seemed that the ailerons hardly moved, well they didn't look like they didn't move at all, My question is how much do the ailerons have to move for a medium or so turn of an A320 thanks. |

The A320 has less range than the B737-800. The airbus has around 19T of fuel at max tanks. The Boeing has 20.5T. This is why Virgin can fly BNE-DPS direct in the 737 but JQ/Strategic can't in the 320. The 737 is payload limited ex AUS however.

Strategic are planning on using the A320 BNE-DPS from the end of the year.
Seat maps on their website when you go to book a flight is the give away. |

We had a request for a charter OOL/RAR/OOL for around 120 pax, no freight.
Surely an A320 could do this, or would the luggage need to be restricted to less than 23kgs per person ? If you look at Airbus website it says can be done with 150 passengers, which realise is only a rough guide & doesn't take into account all factors, but alternate airport might be the issue with RAR. |

No-ones answered your question Brad about aileron deflection.
It's speed relative, the faster you go, the less you need. Next time you're on an A320 have a look how much they move once flaps are set to config "full" Buzz. |
