Default Fly Girls: TV series follows flight attendants at home and in the air

Virgin America have sanctioned a reality show called "Fly Girls" which follows their flight attendants. Not sure if it will air in Australia, but I'll watch it here in the US. It begins on March 24 on the CW network.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...erica-cw_N.htm

I like this comment about the flight attendants:

"When there is turbulence, they say it in such a nice way that it makes you want to sit down"

The CW Network website describes the show as follows:

"FLY GIRLS follows five beautiful Virgin America flight attendants as they jet from one glamorous location to the next, including Las Vegas, South Beach and New York City, while pursuing good times, great parties, adventure and love."

Not quite politically correct - what about the male flight attendants.

Sorry, I forgot about ratings.

What next ?

60s/70s style bylines such as "Hi - I'm Randy/Candy/Sandy/Mandy - fly me".

I think that a major US airline used such bylines in their advertising way back then when Hot Pants and knee length boots were the go.

National Airlines used the "Fly Me" campaign

All airlines in the 1960's used advertisements which would now be considered sexist. Uniforms too. Anybody remember the 1969 Qantas uniform?

Hi Jack

I've still got plenty of aviation magazines dating back to the early 60s and as you say many of the overtly sexist ads and uniforms wouldn't be seen today.

But then again, perhaps they may given the double standards that prevail, particularly the ads for underwear and lingerie that show so much more flesh than the airline ads ever did.
