Default How to get near the fence on 34L/16R

Somewhat off topic but i am trying to combine two great things into one!

In some photos from the beach near the fence, I've noticed a lot of people fishing (eg http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.p...525020&nseq=24) But, I've tried but can't seem to find access to there. The closest i have come is up near the cafe or restaurant further down on the top of the beach. I was hoping to get there to have a fish and see if its worthwhile as well as having a bit of a spot whilst i'm there.
Can someone help me out?

Cheers
Gerard

Park at the old Control Tower and walk down there. It's the most popular afternoon spotting area.

Thanks Nigel. I'll try find how to get to the tower now. Is it a long walk if i were to be carrying fishing rods and gear? and hopefully fish back?

Just use this well illustrated map to get you there.

Just look up Kyeemagh Avenue on the street directory. There is plenty of parking and it is a very short walk.

You've got a chance of whiting along the beach and in the Cooks River entrance. Bream and luderick (blackfish) are a chance along the Twy's rock seawall. Spinning shiny lures might get you tailor if they're cruising through and flathead are a possibility again along the seawall.

Thank you very much!

Anything you don't know Nigel?!! Or did you find a Google site i didn't!?

Tailor sounds very tempting..although i prefer a whole pilchard.
Of course to keep it aviation related i'll take a camera and let you know how i get on with the spotting

I've spent the last 10 years in and around the airport (there you go, aviation related!) and could probably point out some cracking spots especially for big flatties if you had a boat.
And having a shift pattern that give me 4 days off means I get time to do a bit of fishing on the side.

Never, I personally find being asked the inevtitable question "GETTIN' ANY?" when fishing to be really annoying

Therefore I try to avoid asking it myself when wandering the beaches! But Nigel seems to have a monopoly on the good spots to dip a line around the airport, and knowone no's the airport like Nigel know's the airport!

So, Gerard. Once you've been down and cast some lures do let us know.......

Did ya get any?
