Default Telstra 500 V8 photo ops - O/T

Pretty well off topic but I have seen a few folk on here mention they are going to the Telstra 500 at Homebush over the weekend.

My question to any that might have gone Friday or Saturday.. how photo friendly is the place?
Doesn't look that great(like Albert Park) but just wondered if lugging camer gear around on Sunday will be worth the effort.

BTW, anyone heading that way, don't forget your scanner. Car/Driver radio freqs are available at-

cheers

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the link for the radio frequencies! I'll have my bag full of camera gear out there on Saturday, and I would also appreciate any tips from anyone who was out there today. Also, does anyone know what sort of flying displays will be on? I heard there might be an F-18 and a couple of blackhawks but nothing definite.
Gareth

I will be down there with the Fly V Australia cyclists. The V8 course doesn't look very photographer friendly at all.

Cheers

Hi guys
the course is definately not photo friendly from my point of view. Did a bit of a walk of it this afternoon and had a look at the utes going round. Not really any good points of photography unfortunately. Better photography points in ANZ stadium for the concerts than the V8's!

In one weekend the Telstra 500 at Olympic Park has established itself as one of the country's premiere sporting events.
As suspected the photo opportunities were close to non existant but that is pretty much the norm for street circuits as were many good corner views blocked by TV friendly billboards.
But one must persevere and get what one can, a couple of examples at..

Alas no aviation involvement apart from the TV choppers...and the regular 34L heavy departures(what was that large twin with the light blue belly around 13:30.. almost looked Austrian?)

Cheers

While not Sydney, I attended the Perth event a few weeks ago, and being a real circuit had some great photo opportunities.

I have about 17 or so here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3260136...7622727325571/
