744's are not painted in Australia. There is no facility with the size and that meets OH&S requirements.
Only the 767's are painted in Richmond and apparently that may not be happening any more either. No painting at BNE heavy maintenance either.

Richmond paint hanger is closed. Until they find a new operator anyway and then they have to upgrade the facilities to meet new OH&S requirements.

There you go! A sad thing for Australian industry and keeping jobs in house. (Even though it was run by the Kiwis)

I believe TAE is still operating within Australia, just they decided for various reasons to close the paint hanger at Richmond.

The aircraft in question was VH-OEJ, Wunala.
VH-OEB, OneWorld flew down to Avalon Friday morning. |
