Driving past Canberra airport this morning I spotted this.

(sorry about quality of photo, taken through fence into the sun)

Does anyone know why it is here and more importantly, when is it leaving ?

I think just about every hotel in Canberra got an unexpected bonanza last night.
QF32 wasn't the only diversion to YSCB, there were a few 73's in also.

It was rather fortunate that Parliament had finished sitting for the week as had this event occurred on a sitting day there certainly would have been no rooms at the inn.

QF32 landed YSCB around 2030HRS and the first PAX were finally off and being processed around 0230HRS. Poor buggers. Took till around 0430HRS to clear the 300 odd PAX to just about every hotel in Canberra.

Did the passengers sit on the plane for nearly 6 hours? Were they waiting originally for the weather to clear in Sydney and then trying to get possible dispensation to land?

Exclamation Why drive to Canberra City?

It would have been smarter to bus all pax to Sydney as soon as the plane landed, or at least as soon as it became apparent that the delay would exceed the three hours driving time to Sydney.

Thats right Philip.
Ive gotta say actions like these defy logic as portrayed in this article of the flight. http://www.smh.com.au/news/travel/lo...319003374.html

Sure its media grabbing any opportunity they can on Qantas again, but I mean the factors leading to bussing as Phillip outlines to me outway the factors for hotels/waiting in Canberra like in the article.
I mean theres the whole problem with curfew, crew hours, food/drinks, CBR hotels etc.
Seems to me like a decision was not forthcoming by either operations or the like as crew took her in to CBR and then were pretty much stuck on what to do without any word.

That's just my interpretation and sure that article is not for full intent to portray the situation as much as it is to degrade Qantas as has been done in past 12 months but I still think these people were treated without alot of respect, especially those premium passengers.
