The RAAF on Facebook are reporting an unusual visitor to Richmond this week:
"This week, the 航空自衛隊 Japan Air Self-Defense Force paid us a very welcomed visit with their new Kawasaki C-2 transport as part of its operational test and evaluation. Thanks for the guided tour! " https://www.facebook.com/RoyalAustralianAirForce/ Kind of looks like the result of a mating between a C17 and a Spartan! |

Saw a photo from a planespotter of it on Facebook. Very interesting aircraft!

Will there be any special aircraft arriving/departing at YSSY tomorrow? (Excluding the A350)

When Sir James Paul McCartney first visited Australia in 1964, it was with The Beatles on a Qantas Boeing B707. It's now almost 25 years since Sir Paul's last visit to Australia in 1993, and this time he is using Dassault Falcon 7X OY-EJD. Paul arrived in Sydney at 0132L this morning, following his concert in Brisbane on Saturday night

It was a Megastar departure at Sydney Airport this afternoon, when The Beatles Sir Paul McCartney completed his Australian "One On One" Tour, and flew out to Napier in New Zealand. Paul is using Dassault Falcon 7X OY-EJD on this tour.

Grahame, I think you will find that the Beatles arrived in Sydney on a BOAC 707 in torrential rain and had TAA umbrellas to try to keep them dry.

Thanks James, I struggled to find an image of their arrival with the aircraft in view. The ones I did find had Qantas logos, but maybe that was just the stairs. BOAC does sound logical.
PS: I only searched images, not video, and after a quick check on Youtube just now, I found some footage. Your correct, it was a BOAC B707.
