Pacific Blue applies for Phuket flights

The International Air Services Commission has just confirmed an application from Pacific Blue for capacity which would allow it to operate seven weekly flights between Australia and Phuket.

The application says Pacific Blue proposes to progressively introduce the services, operated by 180-seat B737-800 aircraft, with full utilisation of the capacity by 01 Apr 2010.

The IASC is inviting other applications for the capacity, with a closing date of 20 May 2009.

More information in tomorrow's Travel Daily.

Wasn't Pacific Blue looking at serving an "unspecified SE Asian destination" from DPS. If DJ fly DPS-HKT it could use feed from current PER/ADL/BNE flights

Most of the Bali flights seem to arrive around 2-4pm and then depart around midnight. So it seems as if DPS-HKT could be done daily with those slots.

I wonder what the loads are like on the flights to DPS. By that are they light enough to justify carrying extra pax who want to continue onto HKT or would HKT need a full aircraft in its own right from Aus?

I hear BNE-DPS go out full alot of the time.

I presume some of those are SYD/MEL pax so that may change with the new direct flights

Would a 737-700 have the range to do Perth-Phuket non stop?
There would be more conecting traffic at Denpasar making it a more viable option that way I reckon.
