I would like her to get painted in the ocar flying kangaroo livery with a fully polished belly.

That will get the ppl out again and much appreciated by all Qantas staff and enthusiasts alike. Might just get the airline back in the good books with a few ppl as well. Just my 2 cents worth!

Totally agree with everyone's sentiments.....I thought that Wunula was considered one of the most recognized/photographed aircraft in the world. Any cost savings associated with removing this livery would be incredibly marginal in the scheme of things. One can only hope that this livery would be applied to an A380....although I can't see why they couldn't have applied it to an A380 first......imagine the PR images of an A380 and 747 Wunula parked beside each other at Sydney airport for the unveling!

I was on its last commercial service today- BNE spotters were out in numbers. I am saddened that the livery is going as it is easily the most photographed aircraft in the world and the marketing value is priceless. Seems the bean counters won the war in the end but decals just don't cut it. Maybe the 380 won't get a similar livery but hopefully the 787 does.

Definitely a shame if the colours are going. Might have to get down to Sydney tomorrow morning to see her off one last time

It'll be a bit like when Malaysia Airlines got rid of the Hibiscus and Freedom schemes from their aircraft, but as said earlier, Wunala's been in the skies for quite some time. Definitely iconic.

Is there any hope this is just a livery update or is it gone for good?

Dan

With the brains behind Qantas of later days lol, just another negative move... ?

They need to find ways to impact the travelling public in a positive way... draw attention...

Is there a marketing division at Qantas anymore???

The livery has been on for over 15years. Personally, I think if it's time to move on, it's time to move on, because airline managers do not make their decisions to please enthusiasts and photographers!

I'm sad to see it go too. I only photographed it last Thursday taxiing, completely unaware of the fate of this livery

I too spent all of 2010 working on Herbert Street, St Leonards, for SBS Television!

Qantas was considering to put an A380 in a Wunula scheme but the thought had come up though, after they had applied names to each of the individual A380 fleet. And thus didn't want to or couldn't change the process that had been put in place....

It's not about keeping enthusiasts or spotters happy, Big Red is well known and admired by people like ourselves and the Genreal public. Was talking to my father in-law and he has no intrest what so ever in aircraft and he even thought this was a stupid decision saying that everytime he see's it he admires the artwork so to speak to him its an icon, and like I said before it's working as a billboard for Qantas and Australia as brand and a place to go to....

15 years you say? What, on a variety of craft? Certainly not OEJ. Check the delivery date...
