Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Arrival
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his wife Sara, arrived at Sydney Airport this morning, on board El Al Boeing B763 4X-EAR. Flight LY33 took an unusual flight path from Singapore, initially
tracking northeast almost to Manila, before turning south for Sydney. Touchdown was right on 0630L, and the aircraft taxied via Runway 25 to the DOM 6 Apron, and the waiting media. This is the start of a 4 day visit that will also include Canberra. Prime Minister Netanyahu said, "I'm very proud to be here as the first Israeli Prime Minister to make an official visit to Australia." There was a 14 motorcycle Police escort for the short run into the city, where Prime Minister Netanyahuhim will meet with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the Governor General, Sir Peter Cosgrove.

Great photos, Grahame, thanks for sharing the occasion with us! On a side note, you'd think they could wash the aircraft before flying their PM around, no!?

Was there only one a/c ?
I would of thought that the security team would of been a plane full. Rowan, went near Manila, no rain or monsoon. |

The accompanying 747 stayed in Singapore.

That's the second time I've read there was a 747 as well. Any clue on the rego, Kurt? All of El Al's 747 fleet seemed to be elsewhere when I looked on FA on Monday.

I love the sky colour, Bernie. Great photos.
The flight path from Singapore looks to have been to avoid Indonesian airspace. The aircraft headed south over New Guinea just inside its western border. |

Nice one Bernie - on the photos and the rego (makes sense as it has no recent flights on either tracking website - odd, though, given 4X-EAR is on both!).

Quote:
The path from TLV to SIN was equally interesting - over the Red Sea, down the East side of Malaysia, and a short base leg into SIN to avoid crossing Bintam and Batam - a 12 hour flight. Then when departing SIN for SYD they appear to have departed from 02C and taken a right turn almost immediately in order to avoid Malaysian Airspace. Time to SYD was 11 hours according to FR24. Now you know why El Al doesn't fly to AUS (though Perth might be possible if they wanted).
