Default Amazon moves away from Turboprops

Amazon.com has terminated, effective July 3, a CMI agreement with Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International) involving the chartering in of five ATR72-500(F)s as the online retailer pivots away from turboprop operations, Cargo Facts has reported.

All five aircraft have been parked at Fort Worth Alliance since early July 3.

The Florida-based regional specialist entered the cargo market in late 2021, when it began operating the ATR - Avions de Transport Régional freighters it had sub-leased from Amazon. The e-commerce giant leases three of the aircraft from Aergo Capital and two from ACIA Aero, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows. The five aircraft were the only turboprops operated under the Amazon PrimeAir brand and the only freighters in Silver Airways' fleet.
Thought some of the VA birds might have had a similar fate in terms of becoming freighters for Amazon but it looks like that experiment has ended!
