Fighter World Museum
Hi All,
Was thinking of going up to Newcastle one of these days to check out the Fighter World Museum. Just one question, is it in easy walking distance from the terminal? I have had a look on Google Earth & seems like you would have to follow the main road around, or is there a short cut? Hope you can help. Thanks |

There is a shortcut, but it may draw you a little bit of attention! As long as you can dodge jet engines, dog teeth, and the occasional truncheon you should be right. Just make sure you wear something that goes nicely with shiny bracelets.
Otherwise wear comfortable shoes, take a hat and a bottle of water, and enjoy the walk. |

Thanks Stephen B for your reply.
Got up to NTL today. Walk is not too bad, took me about 20-25 min. Was lucky too see some Hawks & hornets in action but was lucky to witness & RAAF C-17 using the callsigen 'STALLION 30' buzz the airfield at high speed. It flew off center to the right of the runway, while I was on the observation deck at Flighter world. Basically right above me. I will never forget the speed and the noise. Here are a few pics of the flyby: Do they do these on regular occasions? BTW does anyone know that website for the live tracking over NTH NSW/QLD. Ive been searching the forums for 1/2 hr and still cant find it. |

AWESOME!
I've not been to Fighter World for several years now, but hope to some day soon. Fantastic photos, very rare opportunity! I was lucky enough several years ago to see the first Wedgetail buzz the tower here in CBR. Unfortunately I only had my trusty 35mm SLR with me, still got great photos but don't have access to a scanner. Stephen. |
