Default Tiger A320 "Serious Incident" Diversion to CBR (5/8/09)

VH-VND diverted to Canberra this morning, ATSB quotes it as a "Serious Incident" Operationally. An Adelaide based A320 has been sent to Melbourne to fill the gaps till tomorrow morning.

Quote:
The crew of a Tiger Airways Australia Airbus A320-200, registration VH-VND from Melbourne,VI to Mackay,QL (Australia), decided to divert to Canberra,AC (Australia) after multiple warning messages occured during cruise flight. The airplane landed safely.

The ATSB rated the occurence a serious incident and have opened an investigation.

Do we know if the aircraft continued onto MKY? You wouldnt think there would be much engineering assistance available there! Then again CBR wouldnt be to helpful for TT either......

No, Tiger actually sent a replacement aircraft to CBR to pick up the passengers and take them onto Mackay (I didn't know they had spare aircraft capacity!). The ATSB stayed with the u/s plane for some time before it was cleared to depart (presumably empty back to MEL).

Was quite an unusual sight seeing 3 Tiger A320s together at CBR with the regular ADL flight arriving shortly before the replacement aircraft departed to MKY (with the u/s A320 also on the bay).
