Bird strike at LAX - possibly QF26??

I flew out of LAX on Monday evening 19/10/09 on VA and there was a QANTAS 744 in one of the American Airlines hangers which I thought was strange as all QF flights leave in the late evening with no overnighting that I know of. Not sure if this is related as it is was a couple of weeks later.

It looks like a Mike Tyson direct hit.

Im pretty sure i remember reading somewhere that it was a pelican that hit the nose. This would explain the size of the dint.
