Default A.net: SYD-SFO to Jetstar?

There's an interesting thread over at A.net that, citing "sources", says Qantas is pondering transferring QF73/74 SYD-SFO to Jetstar once the 787s come online.

Anyone know more about this discussion?

If QF following its two-brand strategy really does want to capture all market segments, Jetstar would enable it to compete at a lower price than the competitors. Choosing a different airport (SFO) could enable it to "protect" LAX and undoubtedly the higher-yielding pax.

well known that JQ what to push into the west coast of the uS - there is also mention of HNL to SFO and could well be on A330 than 787....
there is also consideration as you would be aware of a number of european routes going to JQ
my opinion only is that QF is and will certainly face a lot more opposition form an aggresive VA with fares being very attractive to the holiday/family traveller to the US so it would be logical sense to have JQ expand.......and with extra A330's arriving one would guess that this is whta will transpire..
