Photos: Spotting YSSY and SAAB 340s [55 Photos]
Hi all
Thought I'd share some of the photos I got yesterday while out at the airport. A few interesting movements came through, as well as the usual suspects that frequent Sydney. I started off at the end of 16R, to get bits of the morning light on all the outbound aircraft off 34L, before moving to the spot at the beach, with my ladder accompanying me. The following are some of the results. End of 16R Over at the beach Apart from the usual parade of aircraft, a few oddities came along, including this one: (VH-SSA) |

Jetconnect 737, which prompted my query on another forum These chaps were international flying students from Malaysia, and were seeing off one of their friends aboard the departing Malaysian 747. |

As the light fades
I stayed out until 1730 where by then it was pitch black. The light at sunset makes for some colourful shots! |

Regional Express' SAAB 340s
Contrary to the discussion over in the YMML spotting thread, I seem to get the impression that the humble turboprops and piston aircraft that grace Australian skies are overlooked. I don't know why, but without alluding to having any such... fetish, for these planes, I have quite a soft spot for the humble SAABs and Dash 8s. Sooo... here are all the SAAB 340 photos I collected throughout the day, in one convenient post! Enjoy the lot! |

Thanks folks!
Sarah, use an average 400D with a kit lens (28-55mm and 75-300mm). I bought the 75-300mm lens on Boxing day last year at a really good price for the purpose of photographing aircraft. Now I realise I need an even better lens now preferrably something that goes to 400mm. And also, anyone wanna split for a boat hire to go at the end of 34L? |
