Default Twin Contrails over Penrith.

G'day Everyone.

Just a quick question. Today at about 1345hrs I noticed two relatively fresh contrails running parallel to each other heading in a Nth Est direction over Penrith. Not only is it unusual to see a contrail heading this direction, but two parallel to each other? About 30min later I noticed two aircraft flying side by side forming more contrails, heading in the same direction as the original contrails.

Aircraft were at a high altitude and unidentifiable. My guess was a couple of RAAF Hawks tracking towards Richmond and possibly on to Williamtown.

First time I have seen over Penrith. Did anyone else see them and know what they were?

Wayne

Hi Wayne

I had a look on Webtrak 1330-1415 and nothing showed up, so either out of range or military. Not sure if RAAF flights show up on WebTrak?

Cheers
Mark

WebTrak only shows aircraft within 55km of the airport and no higher than 3000m (9850ft).

Hi Robert

Thanks for that. I was aware of the range of Webtrak but not aware of the height limit.

Cheers
Mark
