Default JAL abandons 787 SYD Flights

our friends in North Asia have decided to opt out of using the 787 on SYD service that was due to start in December. JAL is saying that safety concerns re the engines is the contributing factor.

It would have to be assumed that Jetstar would review plans to use the 787 for services to Japan as the same hazards would exist as for JAL. Only yesterday it was reported that a 747-8 encountered engine icing issues on 3 engines resulted in engine surges and shutdown.

Patrick,

The 748 is the reason behind this because they both use the new GEnx series engines.
