Was down at HARS today and she still has two engines missing. Good numbers doing the tours including OJA, no doubt numbers are getting a good boost by her arrival, hopefully helping to fund more good work by the team there.

Mark, was there any word on when the other engines might be fitted? Dave

Thanks for the info Mark - are the two nacelles completely gone or still in place but empty for the two missing engines? I'm looking forward to going down for a visit next weekend and taking photos - OJA would look better with all four nacelles. :-)

Nacelles are missing too. With OJI going straight to the can yard, hopefully they remove some engines and V-Pod them back for use on OJA.

Is the V-pod still used? I seem to recall something about them not using it when I was up on Longreach as I'm pretty sure they had the thing there.

Can use it still Zac. Only on the RR aircraft though.

Sorry for asking - what's a V-Pod? Ta.

The v-pod is carrying a fifth engine on the aircraft, the engine is not used in flight and is situated between the fuselage and engine 2 on the 747.

That's really interesting - thanks for the explanation!
So is the engine carried in a special type of nacelle, or is it just a regular RR nacelle? In the pic the v-pod looks to be a different shape, but perhaps it's a different engine type? 767 engine? Cheers! |
