Where possible, VH-VBZ will be prioritised for Haneda operations as it burns 2.5% less than VBY.

Woah that's a big difference for an 'identical' aircraft!

Not identical, powered by CFM56-7B20 vs CFM56-7B22 engines which may explain it with the 22s generating 2100lbs more thrust.

There ya go, I'd not realised they had different engines. Thanks!

Scheduled flight time of 7 hours 45 minutes. Brutal!

Both VBY and VBZ have the 22k thrust option.

The ex-KLM -700s have 24k thrust option but for a variety of configuration reasons can not be made ETOPS, so they can't do the HND route.

Payloads on this route are *extremely* limited on the 737-700, and will probably be very limited on the Max 8 too.

Still makes me wonder why they didn't just lease in a HiFly/Wamos/etc A330 to run HND from BNE or MEL until they decide what, if anything, to do about their own widebody fleet. I know they'll have had their reasons, I just can't see it myself.

I suspect that would be in violation of the slot holding rule. I don't know. But I do know that the current operation is in no way financially viable, and I have doubts that the Max 8 version would be much better.

Coincidently capped at 77 (same as the flight number) - or there abouts.

Today's flight had just over 50 pax.
