OJD is operating QF15 and then off to the desert so Brisbane spotters will get to see her last take off from Australia.

I believe OJJ is the next to go, after OJD.

Hopefully OJA goes to a museum! If not, then hopefully it will be the last of this older batch to be retired.

As far as I know OJD hasn't gone yet.....
I think OJJ was supposed to be April sometime. Hope not. Jim

With all the route changes happening on 31st March there will be a few excess 744's, so clearly some more will be gone not long after. Still not sure how they are going to get down from the 17 or so they have now down to 9 and still run the routes they are using the 744 on though.

Ash, the cynic in me would say that Qantas Management know exactly why they'll only need 9 744's. Cutting more routes perhaps? But, this is Qantas, they wouldn't do that, would they????

Well they certainly don't have any new a/c in the pipeline, so clearly something must give.

Page 15 of the Qantas Investor Presentation Supplementary slides states that in the second half of 2013, 2x 747s will be retired (including one lease return).

VH-OJD's schedule shows it supposedly taking off from BNE to LAX at 0905 tomorrow, but its still in SYD I believe. Again, could all change.. |
