The wording on this type of activity may depend on who is entering it for the ATIS.
They are still "Testing" or "Calibrating", for over an hour so far. Interesting to look at on Webtrack. Looks like they were given an orbit on one approach, possibly because of conflicting traffic.

Its funny i watched the replay of that orbit and from the looks of things the only thing that was half-way even close was REX123 departing but on the first pass it was so much closer to a bigger plane so not sure what it would have been? Too high maybe?

No, Auscal broke off their approach due to a glitch in their calibration equipment. Run had to be redone. A tiring day aerodrome controlling with Auscal interspersed amongst the arrivals and departures.
Hopefully 25 was completed this afternoon so it may be used from tomorrow. Next Sat/Sun Runway 07. However by then I'll be lying on a beach somewhere in the South Pacific. Regards. |

I was watching VH-FIX doing its work today. As you can see from the attached, quite a few circuits.

I can pretty much guarantee that Rwy 07/25 will have some use tomorrow. In fact I'd just about put the house on it!

G'Day Adam,
Yes, FIX had some instrument problems yesterday so only certain runs could be done. They finished off the rest today. Regards. |

Landing last Wednesday morning into Syd there was a reasonably good westerly cross wind. Will see which runway we land on tommorow (Monday 16/6) morning.

The runway will be used between 0600-0700 and then from 1900-2300 unless there is a forecast x-wind of more than 20kts on the parallel runways, in which case it might be used more often.
The forecast for tomorrow doesn't suggest 20+kt winds in any direction, but there is a forecast for 30% chance of a fast clearing fog between 0100 and 0900.
