Rob that's a lot of runway for a small bird like that! (Allthough I thought Toowoomba was only at 600M~AGL
Suppose it gets into Narrabri allright because of the lower elevation.
Thanks for the stats, interesting.

The problem with the J32 is it's made in the UK. It's the high summer temps and the altitude of the airport that really make a dent in the performance of any aircraft.

I haven't flown any of the Dash's so the Q300 might able to do it, Anthony C or Jarse might be able to give us the answer.

Not sure on the Q300 Rob, I've only ever flown the Q400.

I did some rough sums last night and the Q400 would need to be empty with min fuel to get out!

Couldn't an F100 or F70 get in & out of TMB ? (perhaps not fully loaded)

or what about new Lockyer Valley Airport near Gatton ? Too short for an F100, but what about Dash 8's ?

Andrew,
That airport is designed as an air park. Not as an RPT airport.

There are a lot of requirements for an airport to meet RPT certification and none of which the owners of the air park would want to do.

Add to that, 1,230m's isn't suitable for jet's and I doubt even a Dash would be able to take off and land from there when you take into account field requirements for aircraft over 5,700kg's.

Mick

Thats great news for daily flights to start in March using either 36 seater 100s or 50 seater 300s fares to start at $350 a little steep will have to wait for the official launch.

Most small jets F100, Ejet etc at sea level require 1500-1600m to carry descent loads. Start throwing in some Altitude and or heat more runway is required or you start to leave payload behind.

yes but lets just say you only carry 80 passengers (less than 2/3 of maximum 122 in an F100) & virtually no checked luggage/freight then surely it would have to be doable, especially if flights aimed at business type hours, 1st thing in the am & 1700-2000 in the pm, when not too hot.

Jarden S where did you get the figure of $350 fare from ? One way ?

Would suggest that an F100 with 80 useable seats could do a TMB/SYD/TMB for something like very roughly $20K.

At a load factor of say 60% someone could do it a lot less than $350 each way & still make money & be faster & more comfortable than a dash 8.

How many rotations a day are planned ?

Are there any other small towns that could/would want nonstops to SYD & have a big enough runway for an F100 ?

Was talking to someone just a few days ago, who was trying to do a smilar thing out of Archerfield in Brisbane, nonstop to SYD.

Their problem, was getting enough hours per month up, to reduce fixed costs.
