Arthur, just explain to us indolent souls how better aircraft on a route equates to better service? I had no idea Boeing or Airbus gave service onboard..

For those indolent souls, I will give you a simple example

As below, QF is upgrading the MNL run to A330s

Currently it is a QF 767 (no AVOD etc) vs. PR with 777s (AVOD) vs. SQ (A380 then 777 -albeit with a stop)

A number of my mates have abandoned QF on the MNL run, just because of the old 767s used by QF

With the upgrade to A330, a number will now move back to QF.

Simple

Agreed!

Not that hard to work out that a new 777/A380/A330 will get more people on-board than an old 767.

Same line of thought with the A380, more people prefer to fly and choose to fly the A380 over the 747.

so the service will be far better if I use VA to JNB rather than QF?

That's down to whether the airline chooses to upgrade the service offered on their plane.

Most people, apart from us aero-geeks, don't give a damn what aircraft type they are on. Nor would they even know how to find out. They simply pick an airline and a day to travel....thats it!! So basically this whole argument about prettier planes = more passengers is rubbish!!

some comments from another board, not aviation, proves your theory wrong
  • What a crock o **** the dinosaur 767 is.......Not to mention the **** poor food, service & what they call in flight entertainment.
  • About bloody time
  • good news i stopped using qantas & moved to PAL because of the **** planes qantas uses
  • I don't mind the 767, they might be old but they are a reliable old bus.
  • Last time I flew with QF to manila it was business class, which of course is nicer then economy but the TV screen were still smaller then SQ economy with less entertainment options
  • What I do care about is that finally we will have individual entertainment units in our seats. Airbus planes are so much more pleasurable to fly in than Boeing planes.
  • I like the a330 but have to fly cattle class

Doesn't prove anything, just the fact that you can cut n paste some quotes, service is something delivered by a human being to another, if you think that because you will be on a better plane that it will equal better service from the hostie then I disagree, what you going to do when you have a bad crew? Swim there??

Montague

Suggest you read the prior post that it refers to, it has nothing to do with your posts on this topic.

if it had related to your post, I would have been quoted it.
