Every one else has already come back at you for this, but basically an engine failure in and of itself is perhaps not that notable (but I do take issue at anyone trying to write it off as an "everyday" event - engines these days are pretty reliable and the basis for lengthy ETOPS arrangements) but when it comes as part of a string of events impacting one airline, then you have to stop and ask questions.

The answer may be that it's just an unlucky series of coincidences, but the question still has to be asked.

I agree with Kim. I have absolutely no problem getting on a Qantas plane in regards to safety.

Thanks to Tim Bowrey for the tip. QF31(VH-OJI) is carrying 5th pod to Singapore today.

And still managed to depart on time. A great team effort there I reckon.

Is it known how will OQA receive its replacement engine?
5th Pod on an QF A380 once they return to service, or will Qantas strike a deal with Singapore Airlines for one of their engines?

Hi,

Did anyone get a photo of QF31 with the 5th Pod?

If so, are you able to share it?

Stuart

It'd just look exactly the same as that wouldn't it?

The A380 engine will be taken over by freight as no A380 is able to have another one added on.

BTW: The Fifth podded plane did look exactly like the one posted above.
