Every one else has already come back at you for this, but basically an engine failure in and of itself is perhaps not that notable (but I do take issue at anyone trying to write it off as an "everyday" event - engines these days are pretty reliable and the basis for lengthy ETOPS arrangements) but when it comes as part of a string of events impacting one airline, then you have to stop and ask questions.

I agree with Kim. I have absolutely no problem getting on a Qantas plane in regards to safety.

Thanks to Tim Bowrey for the tip. QF31(VH-OJI) is carrying 5th pod to Singapore today.

Is it known how will OQA receive its replacement engine?
5th Pod on an QF A380 once they return to service, or will Qantas strike a deal with Singapore Airlines for one of their engines?

The A380 engine will be taken over by freight as no A380 is able to have another one added on.

BTW: The Fifth podded plane did look exactly like the one posted above.
