![]() SYD/OOL-HND: How on earth are they going to fill up a 77W? Will the Japanese Government allow them to use HND? I can't see them taking over VS on SYD-HKG. It is VS kangaroo service, having to change plane in HKG would be a disadvantage for SYD-LHR-SYD passengers. |

I would not like to have been the person(s) that specified the cargo door to small to take airfreight pallets. If they had a the freight capacity they could have earned some very useful extra dollars on every flight and provided some much needed competition for frieight between Aus and US.

That is one of the silliest mistakes I have seen an airline make!
Fancy thinking you could only rely on PAX revenue. |

Hi,
Have not posted link before (so hope this works) but the details re the Cargo Door being too small were from Transport and Logistics News on Monday 27/7 http://www.tandlnews.com.au/2009/07/...ril/JUVTYDFIOD Just find it very strange that they did not look at the cargo market as demand ex US was (pre GFC) very strong and often freight was "overbooked" and bumped onto next flights by QF Freight and others. |

How much freight can they realistically take on the LAX-SYD route?
Given AC's 77W's were payload restricted on YVR-SYD I cant imagine it being all that much. And it is not as if they cant carry ANY cargo - they still have a full sized cargo door at the front which means all baggage etc could be loaded int he smaller door at the rear. |
