Oh well, sad news about Wunala but not unexpected. REALLY glad I was there to see her departure now!

There's still hope though with word that there'll be a new indigenous livery on another aircraft at some point. I'm hoping for something new and I wonder what aircraft type they'll pick? I'm guessing not an A380 as all of them up to #20 have names already allocated to them.

If a new indigenous livery was to apply on an A380, would it be VH-OQA? Once the repair is completed in Singapore, does it need to be repainted?

If iot is going to be an A380 I think it will be OQA. People will relate the Nany-Bird Walton name to the Singapore incident and really, it it was in a different livery with a different name the average Joe won't think about it.

No worries Chris - even with the cloud around, I am sure an outdoor photo will do it justice compared to the media event photos

Not so sure about that Zac. I think if OQA comes back in the normal livery, the "average Joe" will very very quickly forgot the name of the aircraft and the registration of the aircraft. In fact I'm sure most average Joes will never know the rego or name.

However if it comes back in a different livery, it will easily be recognisable as "the one that crashed somewhere in Asia" which is what I think most people will think/remember.

Back on topic though, I'd love to see an A380 in an Aboriginal livery, but I can't imagine there are any that need a new paint job (apart from OQA). Which 744s are due?

Cheers

M

Though I don't necessarily believe it but removing 'Nancy Bird Walton' from OQA could be seen as a sign of disrespect to Nancy who is a legend in aviation.
However that logic would need to be applied to all aircraft currently with names in the Qantas fleet so perhaps it will go on a new delivery. I think they may keep the current name but have an aboriginal livery on a aircraft.

They removed the livery off OEJ partly because the 747 is not a flagship for Qantas now so I don't think they will use the B747 for the next one. I personally would like it to go on an A380 preferably OQA, OQB or OQC.
