That's the first time I have heard of that most kiwis would say NZ is part of Australasia and not part of Polynesia. Its a fair way south of the islands that make up Polynesia.

From memory, both NZ and Hawaii make up part of Polynesia. Countries can be part of more than one region. Australia is considered, Australia (the continent), Asia-Pacific, Oceania, and increasingly on many news websites, Asia, etc.

But back on topic, wasn't Polynesian Blue the name given to the airline when DJ took over the routes of the former Polynesian Airlines, under an agreement with the Samoan Government that the name Polynesia remain in the airline's name (and not become part of the Pacific Blue brand at the time)?
