Someone at NJS would have entered that serial number in.

Out of interest, I checked the last dozen or so deliveries to USA based airlines (Delta, Breeze, Jet Blue). The serial numbers from the FAA all correlate to the online production lists.

I've also checked several others and can't see any other A220 with a serial number that doesn't match the various online sources. The one I tried to check but couldn't was, ironically, 55236 which should be LZ-LON at Bulgaria Air.

I'm also not convinced that Bombardier, let alone Airbus, would have line numbers which so closely resemble MSNs, given the two usually have very different numerical sequences.

As Brenden says, someone at NJS/Qantas would have entered that number and I'd add that it will need to ultimately match the aircraft's placard and papers.

Maybe they are taking line numbers as MSNs in this case, seems to be what’s happening, interesting.

CH aviation noted in their database update:

“ Aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing utilise both MSN and Line Number for aircraft serial numbers, while Airbus solely uses Construction Number (C/N). In our database, we showcased a blank value wherever we had a case of the OEM using only C/N. This is why we decided to duplicate the C/N into the MSN column for OEMs that do not use MSN to ensure our data is consistent with industry standards.”

Excited to welcome our first QantasLink A220, Minyama Kutjara Tjukurpa, to the family, with
@Airbus
officially handing over the keys to our newest aircraft.

This weekend the aircraft will take-off on a four-leg ferry flight operating as QF6075 from Mirabel-Vancouver-Honolulu and then QF6076 from Fiji (Nadi), and is scheduled to touch down in Sydney next week.
