According to some, B744s will be back on the AKL-LAX and JFK routes from later this year.
Which I guess it makes sense... QF have 3 A380s due soon which will then free up 3 B744s to move back onto the AKL-LAX and LAX-JFK routes. This will then free up intl A330s to be used else where. Joyce has already hinted at increasing services to Asia with HKG, PVG, and NRT all performing well. |

Will Qantas ever consider flying MEL-NRT or MEL-PVG again?

Regarding the LAX-JFK sector, the A330 Fleet Manager posted on his blog of 5th August that as of December 2nd, the A330 would operate 6 flights per week. No mention of 744 aircraft returning to the route. All the flights I have operated between AKL & LAX and return have had between 2 & 8 spare seats. A great load factor for a 5 tonne per hour A330 but not so good for a 10 tonne per hour B744. The route is now profitable which it wasn't before the equipment change.

I think Qantas are only focused on Sydney.
