Wouldn't a matcher also be a changer, as it would be providing an equal alternative that hasn't been seen for many years?

How about a seat pitch bigger than 31" in economy, that'd be a nice change.

I've seen many interiors of aircraft - but are they as nice as the new YFC? Qantas just got some new 737-800's (after YFC)... (VZL) so what does VZL's interior look like? Very curious...

While the sky interior Virgin Australia 737's look great, so will the sky interior Qantas 737's once Qantas start to receive these later in the year.
They will also be equipped with seat-back IFE much like the current NZ 737's that are flying So Qantas will have pretty much the same interior fit-out as Virgin. Prices will be similar Service all depends on the crew Who cares about the paint on the aircraft I am still waiting to hear how long it's going to take Virgin to rollout this new product to all it's 737 fleet INCLUDING the IFE........ The current sky interior 737 is still a 1/2 finished product! Having new product is nice, but it needs to be consistent Virgin have 50 737's on order... which will be delivered from June 2011 through to 2017, Qantas should receive about 10 737's with Sky Interior later this year I believe, but not sure of orders following that... |

Is the Sky Interior available as an upgrade by Boeing? In the early 1970s boeing offered a "widebody" upgrade for the cabins of Boeing 707/727s
The reason I ask is there a chance within a few years even the current-interior 737s at DJ and QF will have their cabins converted? |

No, it's only available on new build aircraft.
While the Sky interior is standard to all new 737s and therefore many of those cabin and lighting features will be shared by QF and DJ, Virgin's new seats are fantastic. I spent about 10 minutes sitting in one yesterday and, while the pitch could always be better, the cushion and headrest are very comfortable and pleasing on the eye. Anyway, cosmetics are just that, cosmetic! Remember folks, in various interviews yesterday JB also said he's going to concentrate on building on the airline's great customer service, offer better lounges, that a new IFE is coming (iPads anyone?), and improving DJ's ontime performance - the latter should be easier without the E170s! IMO the new livery isn't bad my only problem with it is the silver titles. Any further then a few metres away they will become invisible thy should have painted them red or a dark blue/purpleish colour instead.
Does anyone know how long the E170's will be sticking around for or more specifically the routes they fly? I'm booked to fly 23/8 CNS-TSV-ROK-BNE the CNS-TSV-ROK sectors are scheduled as a E70? will they still be around come august or can I expect a call rebooking me nonstop?

The last of the E70s will go sometime in 2012.
