Difference being that at least the Southwest Pilots were a victim of mechanical failure and not of their own failings !

I think the Southwest pilots may have been victims of trying to land nose gear first. That tends to lead to mechanical failure though.

Don't 'foreign' pilots practice vasi/papi these days in real life and/or in the simulator?? This was and is still working at KSFO.
