Sharp have brought a fully painted Metro to BNE on Sunday and has put it immediately onto freight runs to ROK and Mky this week.
Sharp took over the Toll Express freight flights out of here to regional QLD over a year ago.

Brisbane Airport is beginning construction of its largest industrial project, a state-of-the-art $50million parcel facility for Australia Post.

BAC is managing the design and delivery of Australia Post’s StarTrack Premium site, making it the postal service’s second largest in Queensland.

The Brisbane North Parcel Facility will span 31,800sqm of internal area. It will be equivalent to more than three rugby league fields with direct airside access from the 100-hectare Airport Industrial Park.

Brisbane Airport Chief Executive Officer Gert-Jan de Graaff welcomed the expanded partnership with Australia Post, which will consolidate its two Brisbane sites within Brisbane Airport’s industrial zone.

“This will be the largest industrial project ever constructed at Brisbane Airport,” he said.BNE_AUS_POST_HI_RES_02

“By providing Australia Post with direct airside access, we’re streamlining the delivery of time-sensitive parcels, benefitting millions of Queenslanders in the South East and regional areas of the state.

“Not only do we offer direct tarmac access, but Brisbane’s arterial road network is right on our doorstep.

“We are proud to develop projects that enable Queensland to grow and connect to the world.”

The 33,800sqm facility will include a custom-built 31,800sqm warehouse, as well as a two-level 2000 sqm commercial office space. There will be parking for 350 cars.

Sustainability features will be prioritised in the development, which is targeting a 5-Star Green Star certification for energy and water efficiency, climate change resilience and reduced environmental impacts during construction.Australia Post aerial crop

The building will include more than 1000 solar panels for renewable energy generation. This will complement BAC’s goal of net zero emissions in 2025.

Earth works have just commenced with construction generating around 1,500 jobs with the facility due to be operational in mid-2025.

The new centre will be able to process up to 176,000 parcels each day and scale up in peak periods.

Leading automation and security features will be in place to boost safety and efficiency for the 200 workers on shift at any time.final Australia Post hero

Airport Industrial Park is strategically located with transport access to air, road and sea through the Port of Brisbane and adjacent industrial suburbs.

Existing and future tenants include Martin Brower, Aramex Australia, Superior Food Services and Air Menzies.

The industrial expansion is part of Brisbane Airports $5 billion Future BNE program which includes upgrades to the Domestic Terminal, International Terminal and planning for a new Terminal 3.

Australia Post: As Australia’s postal service for more than 200 years, we’re at the heart of every community. Last financial year we delivered more than 2.7 billion items around the country and carried out more than 220 million transactions across one of Australia's largest retail networks of more than 4,000 Post Offices. We employ people of all ages, genders, and abilities in our extended workforce of more than 64,000 to reflect the diverse communities we operate in. We are proud to be included in the inaugural Indigenous Employment Index with 3 percent of our workforce identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and we are the largest Australian employer to be certified as a Disability Confident Recruiter.

Default What is it with BNE and pitot blocks/covers

Another near disaster averted!

Quote:
A Singapore Airlines Airbus A350 was about to be pushed back from the gate at Brisbane’s international terminal on 27 May 2022 when a refueller in an adjacent bay noticed covers were still on the aircraft’s pitot probes, an ATSB investigation final report describes.

Upon being alerted to this, the licenced aircraft maintenance engineer (LAME) responsible for the aircraft’s turnaround returned to the aircraft and removed the pitot covers. The aircraft then proceeded for its planned passenger service to Changi, Singapore, without further incident.

Took a while for it to be investigated!
