Default Qantas Drive Spotting

I have never taken shots from there before, and wondering what the best time of day for a weekend would be.

I usually shoot at sheps or the Beach,

Thanks

I assume you know the best place to park is on the grass under the billboard. From that location, as Matt said, up to about 11am is great (even up to midday if you are taking take-off shots of 34L departures). In the afternoon, you can also walk a bit along QF drive back towards the Intl Terminal to the other side of the approach path - from there you can stay all afternoon.

Depending on how heavy the aircraft is, they can be quite high. The attached shot kinda gives you a guide on that.

These shots were taken from there with a Canon 100-400mm at a focal length of about 135mm and 190mm.

As Krishna mentioned, the dog park is also an option, but only in the afternoon. Have a look at this Google Map for the specific locations.
