QF Intl - Can you buy an upgrade at check in?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to purchase an upgrade from Y to J class on QF Intl sectors at checkin - I've heard rumours that if they have available seats they'll do it for a couple of hundred, but not too sure of the facts?

Qantas don't do that unfortunately. The only way to buy an upgrade is to pay the difference between the going rate for a J fare and your original fare.

Without meaning to hijack the thread, does anybody know the situation with regards to purchasing an upgrade from Y to J class on Cathay Pacific at check in? I am flying to Paris and back in November and was contemplating an extra treat for at least part of the journey.

same as QF, work out the fare difference and pay up
