Pitch black with thunder and lightning in Sydney as I type. Can't even see from one side of the harbour to the other! I wonder if there will be diversions away from YSSY...

It's only a narrow cell, so should be through in a jiffy!
10Nm lightning alert was issued about 15 minutes ago, but no 5Nm alert, so it won't be too bad.

Just heard on the scanner there was at least one go-around due to 'severe' overshoot shear...and it sounds like they are putting aircraft into holds, just told an ANZ flight to expect landing time '16'. So its not only BNE working with bad weather today.

Yeah, a Dash-8 reported it at 400' as severe overshoot shear, but the next 2 arrivals had it as only moderate at the same altitude.
The worst seems to have passed through now.

A number of domestic flights diverted from BNE to other ports.

Looks like I picked a good day to stay at home!
Always good fun and games when both SYD and BNE have an issue. Lots of fuel being carried I'm sure! |

Here's a (seriously nice) shot of Royal Brunei departing courtesy of a mate who happened to be out there for the departure.
