Default Jetstar to start Auckland-Melbourne flights

Afternoon all,

From Treavel Weekly

Quote:
Jetstar has announced the launch of daily flights between Auckland and Melbourne from December 13.

It follows an earlier announcement of a three times weekly Cairns-Auckland service from April 12, 2011.

The additional flights will increase Jetstar’s trans-Tasman capacity by more than 20%.

That time of morning can be quite busy at AKL. I have done the SFO-AKL-MEL on NZ multiple times and they have several international arrivals before 6am.

Be nice if Jetstar ran a weekly A320 Cairns to Christchurch run. It would be popular for S Islanders who want to get away from the winter and avoids the Dom to INTL change at Auckland. I remember back in the 80's Qantas operated a 767 on a wednesday non stop Christchurch to Cairns I belive the flight number was QF83 back then.
