That have lost more than that through out history, but the no deaths no hull loss has always refered to in the jet age.
That being said the title of "worlds safest" was something the media/Hollywood put onto them not the airline itself. That's not to say they haven't used that to their advantage. Not sure if it was a campaign in Australia or not, but a few months back Qantas were running a campaign here in the uk which was entitled "Most experianced airline" (or words to that effect) Last edited by Ash W; 13th August 2008 at 08:44 PM. |

That most experienced/longest continually flying was mostly run in UK/USA iirc.

Yeah but it is a story that gives the opportunity for the guy from ALAEA to get his head on TV. Why the media run to the unions when there is a story that mentions QF is beyond me.

I think that's related to the fact that Qantas is the second oldest continually established airline in the world - some might say THE longest since KLM joined up with Air France.

Hi All,
One of the grounded 734's came from Jetconnect (Qantas New Zealand) as tonight 13/8 an Australian Reg. 738 did the Auckland flight. And 2 flights were cancelled from Adelaide this morning, both 734 flights, 1 x Sydney Bound and 1 x Melbourne Bound for memory. Stuart

What a statement to make. They have had and it is well before anyone who is here on this board. They have lost some constellations and the only airline who had never had a crash till Mt Eribus was ANZ.Regos were from TJU down. |

Ray, would it make you happier if I add 'jet' fatalities? Im sure you got my point being that every airline gets their share of technical issues but it's about keeping everyone pretty much alive, and Qantas is not that bad at doing so.
