Default Jet over Sefton @ 1155?

Hi all

Was getting ready for work when I could hear what was an enormously loud jet of some form, that definitely didn't sound like the 'rest of them'. Went outside to take a look, to see one flying overhead that wasn't like the rest.

It either was a Business jet of some form (A Dassault) or something close to a 717, but was delightfully low and echoing for several minutes as it continued to climb, very soothing to listen to

More so, would anyone know what this aircraft was? I suspect it was a Biz Jet of some form that's departed Bankstown, but not overly sure.

Thanks!

I saw it too when I was driving on Alfords Point Road towards Padstow Heights, was trying to work out which flight it was (B717/MD-90).

Wow, no wonder it sounded very nice for several minutes!

Any reason for the daytime flight? I would love the chance to see this aircraft during the day, but it seems they're only night owls?

Try Saturdays...you'll occasionally get a day flight, and they park at the DOM-6 area.

There's nothing like the sight of the smoke trails trailing her just after take-off. Adds a nice touch to the roar of pure American muscle

Thanks Nigel, fingers crossed I might be able to sight one before they disappear from our skies, thanks to our Government!

Russell, out of curiosity going by your signature, you going for your GFPT or PPL now? I'm slowly chipping away at a GFPT over on the Southern side of the aerodrome.

They quite often carry racehorses over from NZ and occaisonally will arrive around 9.30 and as Nigel said they park over by DOM-6. Quite an experience if you have to pick up a pony as well, you get to drive across the airport apron past the domestic terminal, its an expensive Tarmac Tour I suppose

The DHL 727 did make a daytime trip from AKL yesterday. I saw it returning last night.

IS it three months to go in Sydney, or is the October deadline for Cairns?
