Whatever happened to the annual Spotters Weekend and Tarmac Tours?

Does anyone remember the annual YSSY Spotting Weekend and the Tarmac Tours?

I never attended those events myself, but I certainly recall them attracting a crowd.

Any idea why the organisers ceased running these events? I'm assuming it's due to increased security restrictions at/around the airport, because I don't think they were cancelled due to a lack of interest.

Hey Robbie,
The airside bus tours finished up due to a variety of reasons, one of them was the increased security cost.
As for the spotting weekends, it was organised entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers, with one of them being Kurt Ams. He went to great lengths to organise special deals and planned dinners. I am sure if someone had plenty of spare time it could be done again.
