It covers everything required in a safety video set out by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and if it gets peoples attention instead of reading a mag or staring out the window then good on them. |

Whilst I agree that PARTS of the video maybe could either be removed (the credits especially, agree with that big time Craig), I have to agree that it contains all the required pieces of information that CASA set out.
In my days in the GA sector, where I'd be giving safety briefings sometimes up to 10 times a day, there was never anything wrong with throwing in a bit of humour into the safety briefing. Get's a bit more attention from people, and settles the nerves of some who are maybe a little worried about flying. However, I covered everything required by CASA, it always looked professional, and I don't recall too many instances where someone wasn't listening. Had it been very boring and monotonous, then I dare say plenty of people would tune out. So I don't see much wrong with the way V Aus have gone about doing this. Except, the length of it is maybe a little long though. Thumbs up from me V Australia, . Mick |

Makes sense, everyone should know by now that you CANT smoke in an aircraft.. Wonder if the toilets will still have ashtrays.......... Something made me laugh on a JQ aircraft JQW i think, i was in 1F and could see a plaque that said NO SMOKING DURING FOOD PREPARATION (in the galley) ..... thought it was strange!

Noticed on board VOZ in the toilet doors there are ash trays, then no smoking signs above them, thats a tad strange that Boeing are even fitting ash trays at all when its a Australian government regulation that smoking is banned on aircraft. |

Make it 'cartoony' and make people laugh but also may make people think this isnt being taken seriously OR the 'Age Old' safety demo that nobody listens to or watches It is very creative however!!! think it would have been better V Australia rather than V australia, call me old fashioned.........

Maybe its because if someone DOES smoke they'd rather them use the Illegal ashtray rather than in the paper bin????

Just because smoking is banned in Australia doesn't mean it is banned in aircraft all over the world.
The aircraft is certified when it is first designed, and it is designed for many different markets... to change anything is a nightmare and requires recertification. There is an MEL allowing dispatch with a missing ashtray, but it must be replaced within 10 days or the aircraft is considered non-airworthy. Does it make sense? No. But thats the aviation industry for you! I'll bet the version released on youtube is just a marketing tool.. the credits will not be in the on-aircraft version. It may not even appear in that format, who knows. |
