Default QF A380 Thursday 12/8

I was waiting for my flight in Virgin Lounge last Thursday afterrnoon 12/8 about 16:40 and noticed a Qantas A380 (QF31?) depart to West on Runway 25 / 07.
Just curious as to how often this occurs and was this runway widened for the A380 - i thought only 1 runway was widened? ie 34L / 16 R for A380.

Also was of interest given the other thread on QF12 in Noumea and various comments on the runway length and width at Noumea. When the Qantas A380 was departing a Rex Saab was waiting to depart to the North on 34L but then headed off i assume towards 25 / 07, but soon after arrivals and departures were back onto the parrallel runways

25/07 in Sydney, and 27/09 in Melbourne are both available for 380 ops. If they weren't, on a rainy day with a bit of crosswind you'd have no 380 landings. I've used 27 in Melbourne for a departure on QF9 and recently used a very wet 25 (Sydney) for a landing....34 would have been out of the question.

Thanks John,
It certainly looked impressive (although from and external apperance point of view i think the 747 is alot nicer looking) and looked like it did not use much runway to get airborne.
