Default Lack of OZ SBS Websites

How come it is easy to get SBS coverage from overseas groups, but no SBS website coverage from OZ. I have googled but no sites for OZ coverage, very poor show guys.

David Ramsay - we NEED you to get an SBS and start sharing! We reach a fair way into the Tasman - but we need your data at the other end!!

Gerald,

Have a look at this Yahoo group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/oz-modeS/

Is that what you are after?

It was formed so that Australian SBS owners could exchange information, tips and help so as to get the most out of our investment. There is also a file section which has a few outline files for Aust airports plus coastal outlines.

Also on the Kinetic (UK) website:

http://www.kinetic-avionics.co.uk/downloadssbs1.php

the SBS Resources file 3.1.5.0 (12 Jan 09) has some hi res outlines of Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide airports which are excellent for close in work.

A number of the Aust SBS owners also feed PlanePlotter which makes the comings and goings in our neck of the woods that much more enjoyable.

I guess I did not word it right, I should have put live SBS radar images.

In Europe they have a group web site called SpottersRadar, live SBS radar images, It would be great if we had such a web site her in OZ for people who cant aford to buy a SBS radar box

Gerald,

As mentioned elsewhere on this forum, Planeplotter is what you are after. For a small one off subscription fee, you have access to a live radar feed of not only Sydney, but the rest of Aus and internationally as well.

Gerald,

Have a look at Jim's site, he supplies a live Brisbane SBS feed:

http://www.egph.co.uk/sbs.htm

He is away on holidays at the moment and will be back on 9 Feb.

As Pat mentioned, for you PlanePlotter is the way to go for local, interstate and international coverage. We have shares from FNQ, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth. In most of the capital cities there are two to three sharers feeding ADS-B plots. So if one is off line usually one of the others covers the area. It also depends on individual's range and coverage as to how close plots can get down to the airports.

Cheers,

Noel

Noel

This is the web site I use for arrivals from LHR to SYD http://www.spottersradar.com/ .

The reason I use this site, its the best one for the job.

For SBS-1 Image Radar, the above is better than PlanePlotter, plus it FREE, no charges at all.

So would I be right in saying there is NO free to view SYD SBS-1 Image Radar sites available in OZ, free of charge.

Now that is one great website.

I have just returned from a five week trip to Finland so I now have a keen interest in tracking Finnair flights which I have been doing on Plane Plotter, but just been checking out this website.

I have just been tracking four Finnair flights over Eastern Finland & Sweden, awesome!!!!!

Cheers,

Dave
(PS - I provide one of the feeds to Plane Plotter from Nth Qld)

I've been looking at doing something like this for OZ.
Anyone else think that this would be a good idea.
It would be great to have all the oz sites/feeds available
on a main site.

Something like this

Us guys up here in Nth Qld certainly don't have the volume of traffic that you see in the capital cities, but I'm keen to get something up and running.

I love PlanePlotter, there are enough SBS transmissions from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth sometimes to see everything you need.
