It's a lot harder to do theory when you're not flying alongside it - they are really meant to be done together.

BAk for example - most of my GFPT students self study it with a text book through their GFPT flying - while they won't own up to me, I'm quite sure some have studied it within the week of the exam and only because they can't sit their GFPT flight test until they pass it!

BAK when completed with flying is relatively simple - because the preflight briefing & practical component supports the theory.

I'm not saying the TAFE course is not worth doing, however if you have other priorities in your HSC, you can rest assured BAK won't be a huge, time consuming hurdle once you start flying.
