Default RAAF Richmond Flying Club - Fly In

Schofields Flying club members were invited out to the RAAF Richmond Flying Club "Fly In" today, so I thought I would make the trip out to see what was on show. It was a quick trip out the M2 and M7 to Richmond, and after checking in at the main gate, they had a shuttle bus to the flying club at the western end of Runway 10/28. You could fly in if you applied for and authorisation number by Friday 28th Nov.

There was an interesting turn out of aircraft, from a Harvard, YAK-52, Pitts S-2B and Rebel 300, to a Rockwell 114, Mooney M20R, Beech C24R, American AA-5B, Evektor Sportstar and the Cessna 150s from RAAF Williamtown and Rickmond.

The aircraft were in and out all day, the Rebel 300 put on a great aerobatics display and the Harvard did a very low pass along the runway with smoke on. Joy flights were available in the Harvard, Pitts, YAK-52, Cherokee 140 and Robinson R22 Beta, and the club had the bar-b-que fired up to satisfy the apetite.

RAAF wise, a Hercules and single Roulette departed and did some low work just north of the field. A37-001 made an approach to Runway 10 and the did a go around at the last minute and departed.

I had a very comfortable day sitting in the shade of a Cessna Cardinal wing and shooting all the action. Unfortunately I did not win the raffle, where the prize was a flight in the Harvard.

Thank you to the RAAF Richmond Flying Club for a different and enjoyable day.

Nice shots Grahame. Looked like it was a good day.

Just wondering where did the PC9 depart to or did it come back?

Adam, the single Roulette departed on Runway 10 then did some low flying just north of the field (there was a circus setup just outside the main gate of RAAF Richmond).

After if finished it did not return to Richmond and I did not pick up anything on the scanner.

The Hercules did the same thing, some very steep turns, but returned to the base.
