Default QF 5 / QF 31 flight path today

anyone know why QF 5 is tracking so far south today currently over Albury looks like QF31 is following track seems a long way south before heading north , just noticed SIA 222 heading towards Adelaide , I think Planeplotter must be playing up ??

Hi Laurent,

This may be related, Last night on flight radar 24 an SQ flight from MEL-SIN and an MH flight from MEL-KUL flew down towards Portland which is along way south as they usually head up over either Mildura or Adelaide way.

My best guess would be winds as they were picking up a good speed on the southbound track.

cheers , Dan , seems only the Singapore bound flights are using this route , still seems like a long way to go to pick up a tailwind.

The flex track Sydney - Singapore area (SY1A) for today is below

Quote:
INTERNATIONAL TRACKS GROUP A

(TDM TRK SY1A 100701040001
1007010430 1007011900
BUNGY ***IN FRT 27S125E PD OSOTO DOMOM SAPDA
RTS/YSSY SY H65 WOL J42 ARRAN AY T8 BUNGY
RMK/AUSOTS GROUP A)
Which translates to Sydney, Wollongong, Albury, south of Adelaide, Forrest (south East corner of WA) then Port Hedland

This is a very southerly route but is the published fastest, most fuel efficient route for today based on winds.

http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/...usotstoday.asp shows a picture of the Airservices published route (it changes daily). Blue is westbound, yellow eastbound.

Matt
